I am a certified Master Piano Technician who tunes pianos in the traditional aural manner, which means I tune by ear without the aid of an electronic tuning meter.  The aural method is explained further on the FAQ page, or download and read my recent articles on piano tuning from the menu.

My piano tuning training included several years as an apprentice to the revered tuner, Bill Hupfer, the premier concert tuner-technician of Steinway & Sons in New York City.  When he was younger Mr. Hupfer used to travel the country by train to accompany Steinway artists like Sergei Rachmaninoff, Josef Hoffmann, and Myra Hess.  I also trained locally under John Travis and Fred Hemry, both prominent piano tuner-technicians in the Washington, D.C. area. I am a member of Master Piano Technicians of America and a member of the Piano Technicians Guild.

I was born and grew up in Washington, D.C., and have lived most of my life in the Greater Washington DC area.
